    Woodmen Hills Elementary School enjoyed a rock themed day full of fun activities and music Sept. 20. WHES joined thousands of educators around the world for Rock Your School day to capture students’ attention with fun experiences. Students were able to dress up in rock inspired garb and make fake musical instruments.

    Seventeen D49 teachers received accolades from principals, and recommendations from students and parents to prompt selection as their school’s Teacher of the Year.

    Woodmen Hills Elementary School may have welcomed some new students for the first day of class Aug. 2, but some things were as constant as ever. As young learners arrived, several long-standing staff members were there to greet them for another year.

  • Students Across District Win with Track and Field Day

    Nearly 400 fourth and fifth-graders from 10 schools across D49 participated at the all-district track meet May 17 at Falcon High School. Students were gathered together to practice physical education skills learned throughout the year and to experience competition.

    A student and three District 49 staff members were honored May 10 for their achievements in the district prior to the regular monthly Board of Education meeting.

  • WHES Students Rock Music, Physical Fitness Program

    Music and P.E. class melodiously blended together at Woodmen Hills Elementary School Jan. 22. Melissa Ellenberger, music teacher, and Joel Patton, health and P.E. teacher, merged their areas of instruction to bring cardio drumming to the school throughout January. Cardio drumming combines musical lessons with physical activity.

    Sandi Esparsen, Falcon Education Foundation secretary, receives a plaque of appreciation from District 49 Board of Education President Nov. 9 after awarding just under $31,000 to educators across District 49 for innovative and unique learning opportunities.

  • Two District 49 Teachers Awarded Grants in “Extra Yard for Teachers” Campaign

    Amber Kettinger, fifth grade teacher at Rocky Mountain Classical Academy, and Anna Tapia, fifth grade teacher at Woodmen Hills Elementary School, were surprised Sept. 20 when they were selected as honorees in the “Extra Yard for Teachers” Air Force Athletics Campaign.

  • CDE Names WHES' Murphy Finalist for Colorado Teacher of the Year

    The Colorado Department of Education Aug. 15 named Wendy Murphy, an educator at Woodmen Hills Elementary School in District 49, one of seven finalists for Colorado’s Teacher of the Year. “Colorado values the dedicated teachers from around the state who inspire and motivate our children every day,” said Colorado’s education commissioner Katy Anthes, in a release. “The Colorado Teacher of the Year award is just one of many ways we can honor our state’s educators. We look forward to hearing from the seven finalists in the search for the individual who will represent our state’s teaching profession.”

  • UPDATE: Closure- November 12, 2018

    Due to wintery weather conditions, District 49 is now closed for Monday, November 12, 2018. Falcon High School will remain on an E-learning day schedule, and Springs Studio will have a virtual schedule.

  • 2 Hour Delay: October 31, 2018

    Cold, wet and snowy weather began moving into our area this evening and will likely continue through much of the night into Wednesday morning. Due to these conditions, District 49 is on a two-hour delay for Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018. Falcon High School will be on an E-learning day schedule.
