District 49 appreciates each and every platform a community member uses, as part of the district's communications strategy. This privacy policy is a disclosure document that's meant to inform you about the use of personal data or information. When it comes to your protection, other applicable laws about privacy apply, such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. COPPA imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.
Types of Data
Among the types of personal data that D49.org collects, by itself or through third parties, there are: cookie, usage data, first name, last name, gender, date of birth, phone number, profession, address, country, state, email address, ZIP/postal code, city, username, password and company name. Other personal data collected may be described in other sections of this privacy policy. or by dedicated explanation text contextually with the data collection. District 49's website solution at D49.org is provided by Blackboard / Finalsite. Blackboard / Finalsite is committed to protecting your privacy. Its privacy policy was developed to give you a full understanding of terms and conditions relating to the handling of certain personal information, which may be collected by Blackboard / Finalsite. Its privacy policy applies to personal information collected on websites, applications or other web-based environments provided and hosted by Blackboard / Finalsite for District 49 and its schools.
Student Information System (PowerSchool)
District 49's student information system solution is provided by PowerSchool (privacy policy). The system requires a username, password, and account information. While D49.org may link to PowerSchool, the system does not transmit to or receive personal information from D49.org. Individual, personally identifiable student records collected and maintained by District 49 shall be accessible only to authorized education officials for auditing, monitoring, and evaluating local, state, and federal education programs or for completing local, federal, or state-mandated activities requiring access to such records. Access to individual student records is stringently controlled through technical security conventions and procedures. Appropriate usernames, passwords, and other sign-in credentials are assigned to users to establish each user's data access authority only to the records or data elements required to complete local, federal, or state-mandated activities. Parents and guardians of students are provided system access credentials, but only to access their student records and personal information. Parents and guardians may access these records and information electronically or by visiting their school registrar.
Learning Management System (Schoology)
District 49's learning management system solution is provided by Schoology (privacy policy). Like the district's student information system, this learning management system requires its own username, password and account information to access it. While D49.org may link to Schoology, the system does not transmit to, or receive personal information from, D49.org. Schoology is a cloud-based learning management system and configurable social network for education. The platform provides a full suite of learning management tools, including an online gradebook, attendance, test/quizzes, discussion boards, blogs, and collaborative course and group pages. In order to promote student and teacher engagement, Schoology aims to leverage the familiarity and advantages of popular social media tools to promote communication and collaboration outside of the classroom. The social network permits multiple organizations to participate in shared classes, groups, and discussions.

Live Chat, Ticketing Support System (LiveChat)
District 49's website live chat and ticketing solution is provided by LiveChat (privacy policy). LiveChat's privacy policy contains information about collecting users’ personal data, products and services offered or performed by LiveChat, and the manner of its processing. Due to the implementation of comprehensive security regulations, personal data provided by website and mobile application users is of highest security standards. LiveChat complies with the U.S.–E.U. District 49's website analytics solution is provided by Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. The service enables District 49 to monitor and analyze web traffic and can be used to keep track of user behavior. Google uses the data collected to track and examine the use of D49.org, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may use the data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. Personal data collected: cookie and usage data.

By filling in the contact form with their data, you authorize District 49 to use these details to reply to requests for information, quotes or any other kind of request as indicated by the form’s header. District 49 Mailing Lists (ParentLink)
By registering for a District 49 mailing list, the user’s email address is added to the contact list of those who may receive email messages containing information of commercial or promotional nature concerning District 49.
