District 49's student information system solution is provided by PowerSchool (privacy policy). The system requires a username, password, and account information. Schoology is a cloud-based learning management system and configurable social network for education. The platform provides a full suite of learning management tools, including an online gradebook, attendance, test/quizzes, discussion boards, blogs, and collaborative course and group pages. In order to promote student and teacher engagement, Schoology aims to leverage the familiarity and advantages of popular social media tools to promote communication and collaboration outside of the classroom. The social network permits multiple organizations to participate in shared classes, groups, and discussions.
