Vice President Kevin Butcher

Kevin Butcher is sworn in for another term as District 49 BOE director in 2017. Kevin Butcher says he and his wife have always tried to demonstrate the importance of education to their children by being involved in their education and being involved as strong supporters of their schools and the district. Butcher’s children have attended District 49 schools since kindergarten, participating in band, choir, sports, theatre, talent shows, student council, International Baccalaureate programs and National Honor Society.

Butcher has been an active member of the Falcon Education Foundation since its inception and served as president. The foundation has provided thousands of dollars in teacher mini-grants and student scholarships while honoring high performing personnel and students at the annual community banquet. Recently, he served on the district’s capital planning committee.

“Falcon School District 49 is poised and ready to become a great school district," said Butcher. "Our innovative ways of delivering a quality education while providing true choice is a bold step. One thing preventing the district from greatness is the lack of community trust. I am running for the school board to help bring stability to the board of directors though effective governance

“After 15 years of quietly supporting the District 49 schools as a parent, volunteer and businessman, it is time to step up and make a visible difference in the district. I want more successful education for our children. I want D49 to be a benchmark for how school districts run. I know these are possible with the right school board, and that’s exactly why I am running.”

Professionally, Butcher is the president of a commercial real estate services company, serving clients of large and small businesses, financial institutions, not-for-profits organizations, governments and individuals. He also volunteers with the Fountain Mutual Metropolitan District, Pikes Peak Association of Realtors and Colorado Association of Realtors. He has also served on the Colorado Springs Planning Commission (two terms) and Downtown Review Board.

“Because of my long involvement in the community," he said, "I will be able to help the district forge strong community partnerships to help us move forward to becoming a great school district."
