Family Science Experiments At WHES Made Possible By Falcon Education Foundation
Woodmen Hills Elementary School held Science Family Fun Night on April 30. The exciting learning event was funded through a grant by the Falcon Education Foundation.
"I would really like to thank the Falcon Education Foundation for the opportunity and the huge grant that they awarded our school," said Paula Hinson, WHES project based learning instructor and GT coordinator. "The impact of that grant on what these kids are learning is huge."
Approximately 180 students and their parents participated in two experiments. Each experiment lasted 45 minutes.
Woodmen Hills learners made Atomic Slime and conducted experiments with dry ice. Other science experiments included a van de graph generator, glow in the dark cartesian diver, an insect extravaganza, energy beads, sculpty sand, magnatiles, the science of tie dying shirts, the science of music, elephant toothpaste and exploding canisters.
The Falcon Education Foundation is a citizen led nonprofit organization that raises funds beyond the usual means of support to help students and teachers reach their full potential, now and into the future.
During the 2014-2015 school year, the Falcon Education Foundation provided nearly $25,000 to 27 unique and innovative learning opportunities across District 49.
