The ninth annual fishing event for students with special needs was held May 7 at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park. Gross and fine motor skills, fish biology and habitat, knot tying and water pollution were featured as part of the curriculum for the event.
Sand Creek High School International Baccalaureate students volunteered and assisted during the morning, teaching students how to correctly cast and fly fish.
After a brief bought of rain pushed students into the busses, the sun came back out and much fun was had. For the first time in nine years, a fish was caught. It's not a fishing tale either, it really was big!
