Staff, Students Demonstrate Passion for Leadership

Team members and students work hard every day to make District 49 the “Best Choice to Learn, Work and Lead.” During the June 13 Fantastic 49 festivities, the Board of Education recognized a group of honorees for their commitment to leading in D49.

Tambria Miller, paraprofessional at BRES, is recognized during Fantastic 49 June 13.

Bennett Ranch Elementary School saluted Tambria Miller, para educator, for her caring nature and enthusiasm with both students and colleagues. “No matter what the task is, Tambria will jump in and do it with a joyful heart,” shared Amanda Maranville, principal at BRES. “I have never seen a more capable and professional para educator as Tambria.”

Odyssey Elementary School honored team member Pam Holloman, academic dean, for countless vital contributions before she transitions to the assistant principal role at Inspiration View Elementary School this fall. “Because of her strong desire for every student to reach their potential, Pam’s mission to model was beyond comparison,” shared Barb Colby, teacher at OES.

The list of honorees included a trio of students. Derrius Rahman and Bruce Smith, recent Sand Creek High School graduates, received accolades for earning Daniels Fund Scholarships. The annually-renewable college scholarships are presented to seniors who display exceptional character and leadership. Rahman participated in National honor society and graduated among the top ten percent in his class. Smith took part in student council, link crew and peer tutoring.

The celebration included recognition for Rachel Washburn, a senior this fall at Sand Creek. Washburn participated in buddy mentoring at Remington Elementary, obtained a grant for school improvements at SCHS and fostered staff appreciation. John Graham, board of education vice president, voiced kudos for Washburn. “Your leadership in the school has definitely enhanced our community and our school district,” he shared. “And I thank you for that.”
