SES Raiders Return for Family Orientation Day

Students, siblings, parents and grandparents came together to get acquainted for the 2018-19 school year at Stetson Elementary School Aug. 2.

Tristan Strickland, first-grader at SES, leaves Family Orientation Day Aug. 2 with his little brother, Oliver, and mom.

“Stetson's Family Orientation Day was designed to provide a thoughtful and personal approach to welcoming students and their families to a new school year,” shared Jeff Moulton, principal.

Prior to the event, parents were invited to a specific group session with their student’s teacher. “Keeping the family groups small allowed teachers and parents to enjoy an experience that was relaxing and informative,” said Moulton.

Teachers shared expectations for their classrooms, and young scholars brought in their school supplies to get settled in before the first day of learning Aug. 3.

With the intimate orientation sessions, staff members started building personal relationships, all with the goal of supporting student success. “Stetson is the friendliest, most personable school I’ve ever been in,” commented one SES grandparent.

Lisa Jones, first grade teacher, talks to learners during Family Orientation at SES Aug. 2.  . Danielle Rymer, first-grader, listens intently to her teacher, Lisa Jones, during Family Orientation Day at SES Aug. 2.  . The Thompson Family, new to the SES family, enjoys touring the school Aug. 2 during Family Orientation Day.
