3 SCHS Students Honored for Daniels Scholarship Win

Todd Matia, Sand Creek High School Project Lead the Way instructor, recognized three Daniels Scholarship Program winners during “Fantastic 49” recognition April 9, ahead of a monthly Board of Education meeting in District 49.
Matia introduced 12th-graders Philip Garcia, 18, Pierce Davies, 18, and Phillip Dupree, 18. The scholarship is open to any university, and covers tuition and fees room and board, books and supplies, as well as other miscellaneous educational expenses.
Garcia and Davies are planning to study at University of Colorado Boulder with majors in computer science and engineering, respectively. Dupree wants to head to Texas A&M University for a program in chemical engineering.
During their recognition by the BOE directors, they each thanked teachers for offering outstanding mentorship and learning opportunities.

Sand Creek High School was one of six schools across Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming to achieve three or more scholars.
