Imagine Indigo Ranch Students Kick It With New Football Club

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC players Carlos Contreras, Josh Phillips and Jaime McGuinness spoke to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students at Imagine Indigo Ranch February 6, 2015.
The players took advantage of a warm Friday to be outside with students at the District 49 charter school. Contreras, from Honduras, performed soccer skills to the delight of students, who participated in several footwork drills with the players. "It is wonderful to be in Colorado Springs," said Contreras. "It is really obvious this community loves soccer and being active outside."
Switchbacks FC, a start-up professional soccer club based in Colorado Springs will begin play in the USL PRO league in 2015. Students learned about the club, the upcoming schedule, the game of soccer and recent FIFA World Cup history during the 40 minute presentation.
"I'm still finding my way around," said McGuinness, who recently moved from London, England. "I can't wait to start practicing with the team."
Players answered questions, provided prizes and handed out autographed photos. Students shared their enthusiasm about soccer and the new club with the players.
