Journey to Learning Begins for Newest FESoT Students
Young and excited scholars arrived at Falcon Elementary School of Technology Aug. 1 and 2 for kindergarten orientation.
Kindergarten is all about laying the groundwork for learning in the years to come.
“High school graduation is when we get the last handshake on an educational journey,” shared Dr. Michael Roth, principal. “Today, we get the first.”
In Holly Fitzpatrick’s classroom, the day started with reading a popular first-day-of-school book, “The Kissing Hand,” to help students feel safe and secure as they begin their new adventure. “I want them to love school,” she stated. “This is the year we grab their hearts.”
For a momento of their special first day, learners created puppets of the book’s main character, Chester the Raccoon. The project gave the kindergartners their first opportunity to color, cut and glue at school.
To complete their orientation, the little scholars took a tour of their new school to include favorite stops such as the library and the playground. The class of 2031 will begin academics together Aug. 3.
