Corporate sponsors and auction bidders showed up in a big way at the Falcon Education Foundation’s “Casino Royale” fundraiser at Boot Barn Hall at Bourbon Brothers on April 21. The event brought in more than $73,000.
“This was a record-breaking year for funds raised,” said Tammy Harold, Falcon Education Foundation Treasurer. “And next year we’ll celebrate the foundation’s 25th anniversary, so we’re looking to host an even bigger celebration to benefit our teachers and students.”
The foundation raises money with an annual event to fund teacher mini-grants and student scholarships, and to help pay expenses for the 3.75 GPA events that honor the district’s top graduating seniors.
Through the years, the foundation has raised more than $500,000 for District 49 teachers and students.
Over 350 attendees tested their luck on casino games with only pretend money to lose. They also enjoyed a live auction that featured a weekend stay on Lake Dillon, golf excursions, top-notch tickets to a Colorado Rockies game, a guided bird hunt and more. A favorite band in Southern Colorado, Martini Shot, performed live.
Foundation board members handed out crisp $100 bills during many games, including a contest for Best Dressed, which the audience selected. A team from the Academy for Literacy, Learning & Innovation Excellence (ALLIES) took home the coveted Best Dressed prize.
