eSports: Gaming and Learning at the Campus
Students at Pikes Peak Early College and Springs Studio for Academic Excellence (collectively known as the Campus) are participating in eSports, competitive online video game tournaments with students from across the country and Canada.
“Video games are obviously the future; they are part of our kids’ communities every day,” said PPEC eSports coach and instructor Natalie Cummings. “Bringing an inclusive co-ed team together to compete at a high school level…is really an honor.”
Gaming tournaments take place each Wednesday, with about 15 students competing on the co-ed team. Many of the participating students also take computer coding classes offered at the Campus, where they learn how video games are created and designed.
