Vista Ridge Celebrates Big, Wins Big for Homecoming
Sophomore Jackson Ziwak is a big fan of Vista Ridge football, and during Homecoming 2021, he experienced a dream come true. Jackson was selected from Madison’s Vogt’s life skills class for students with special needs to lead the team onto the field for the football game on Oct. 1.
“This experience meant more to our family than words can describe,” shared Tina Ziwak, Jackson’s mother. “It was easily one of the best nights of Jackson’s life, and he was absolutely thrilled to be included.”
From the moment the Wolves football team was led onto the field, they maintained control over the Heritage High School Eagles. Vista Ridge won the game 42-7.
Cheerleaders, band members and the color guard stole the spotlight with special performances during halftime, and the following individuals were announced as homecoming court members:
King: Javier Torres, senior
Queen: Domonique Green, senior
Prince: Caleb Kelley, junior
Princess: Kieley Smith, junior
Duke: Cameron Coahran, sophomore
Duchess: Summit Clayton, sophomore
Lord: Mason Carter, freshman

The list of homecoming week activities was complete with Powder Puff football, Peach Fuzz volleyball, a schoolwide pep rally and outdoor dance. “The student council kids worked so hard to create exciting and fun events,” shared Shawna Quinn, student council advisor. “I’m so proud of the staff and students who made homecoming special after a tough year last year.”
