FEF Awards Over $23,000 In Mini Grants

Teachers and staff were awarded over $23,000 in mini-grants from the Falcon Education Foundation Nov. 12 during a Board of Education Meeting in District 49.

The foundation, a nonprofit organization, funds innovative,“outside of the box” projects for teachers and administrators that go beyond the traditional school budget.

Staff submitted applications in September and October, with ideas ranging from rubiks cube mosaics to podcasting stations. Twenty-seven winners were recognized during the “Fantastic 49” portion of the BOE meeting.

The foundation hosts an annual awards dinner and silent auction to raise money for scholarships and special projects. The 2016 dinner is scheduled for April 22 at the Colorado Springs Marriot. To learn more visit D49.org/FEF.
