Student Success Goals

Goals for student success in Sand Creek Zone align with District 49's Firm Foundations and Every Student rock. These two rocks express the elementary and secondary educational journey, respectively. We provide firm foundations for young learners so that every student is equipped to launch to success regardless of destination after high school.

  • Every student a reader by the end of third grade
  • Student engagement and ownership in the learning environment
  • Provide ongoing opportunities for students to participate in decisions about personalized paths to success
  • Graduates of Sand Creek Zone are prepared for success in college or career.

Student Success Strategic Inititatives

  • Increase fidelity to best practices in instructional strategies aligned with visible learning
  • Implement teacher-led advisories focused on developing a system of communicating with students about individual learning paths
  • Convene student focus group to explore paths of interest
  • Implement visible learning practices across the zone through emphasis in the observation/feedback process and the creation of a teacher leadership cohort

Student Success Annual Measures of Success

  • PSAT - Meet or exceed the district average in ninth grade English scores
  • PSAT - Meet or exceed the district average in ninth grade math scores
  • SAT - Meet or exceed the district average for eleveth grade English scores
  • SAT - Meet or exceed the district average for eleventh grade math scores
  • PARCC - Meet or exceed the district average in English language arts scores for grades 6-8
  • PARCC - Meet or exceed the district average in math scores for grades 6-8
  • Increase percentage of students at or above benchmark level in reading from 73 to 83 (DIBELS reading)
  • Determine baseline of student engagement overall mean on survey from ___ to ___
  • Increase the Graduation Rate from 80.5 to 82
