Praises Shared for Staff, Students During Fantastic 49
District 49 thanked staff and students for representing the D49 community with excellence during the Fantastic 49 presentation on Feb. 10 before the monthly board of education meeting.
Ingrid Daniel, a guest/substitute teacher, was first to receive honors. “Ms. Daniel has worn so many hats and has done so with professionalism, flexibility and service,” shared Suzy Ancell, assistant principal at Remington Elementary. “She has impacted our Remington Community by taking over classrooms for teachers on leave and has done so gracefully. Ms. Daniel is our unsung hero.”
Building Manager Lino Rodarte was recognized for not only maintaining his facility, but also for working intentionally to develop relationships with staff and students at the PEAK Education Center. “Lino is amazing … he’ll laugh with students, joke with them … he’ll go anywhere at any time to help cover a classroom,” said Karen Sandidge, dean of students. “We are so thankful to have Lino as our guide, building manager, our friend and our compadre.”
Next in the line-up were staff members from the finance department: David Barcus, Fran Christensen, Heather Diaz, Cindy Furlong, Chuck Gilbert, Kendra Scott and Karri Verrill. Despite being short-staffed, the team received honors from the International Association of School Business Officials for excellence in financial reporting. “Huge kudos for the team coming together for transparency and our community,” said Ron Sprinz, director of finance. “This group does such great work on a day-in, day-out basis, and I appreciate their effort so much,” added Brett Ridgway, chief business officer.
Festivities were concluded by honoring a group of students, Future Farmers of America officers from Falcon High School. Holly Buchanan, Gabrielle Burkholder, Joe Mills, Riley Spurlock, Lilly Stewart and Jady Vignery were congratulated for demonstrating leadership at the National FFA Convention and at the National Western Stock Show. “We attended many different workshops at the conference and figured out what we could take back to our chapter,” shared President Joe Mills. “At the stock show we helped out Colorado State University working with youth on a diaper soil activity. It was great to see kids so interested in agriculture.”
Fantastic 49 is the district’s recognition program that celebrates fantastic staff, students, and community members before the board of education meetings. A sincere thank you to Air Academy Federal Credit Union, Dion’s, Texas Roadhouse, and Whirlyball for donating gift cards for all honorees.
