Staff Honored for Demonstrating D49 Cultural Compass
An outstanding group of employees received accolades during the Dec. 12 Fantastic 49 celebration for exhibiting core values of District 49. Honorees share characteristics of care, teamwork and innovation, all key elements of the district’s cultural compass that guides how employees treat each other and their work.
Malou Koster, data technician in learning services, was honored for her genuine care, customer service and the integral part she plays with state assessments. “People tell me they can hear Malou smile through the phone, and they always feel supported,” shared Kathleen Granaas, coordinator of academic performance.
Falcon High School Math Department Chair, Nick Salas, received kudos for exemplary teamwork and his willingness to go the extra mile for others. “He is a phenomenal leader who always does what is best for students and his department,” said Nathan Truex, assistant principal at Falcon High School.
Festivities wrapped up by celebrating innovation across D49 as 34 teachers received mini grants from the Falcon Education Foundation to implement unique projects in their classrooms. Grants totaled more than $28,000. “I applaud you all for doing projects like these, and going above and beyond regular curriculum,” remarked Kayla Maldonado, Falcon Education Foundation president.
Funds for the grants are raised primarily with an annual awards dinner and auction that takes place each spring. The next event will be April 17, 2020 at Boot Barn Hall at Bourbon Brothers.
Congratulations to the following teachers and schools on receiving a 2019 Falcon Education Foundation mini grant.
