Students, family and community members gathered at Falcon Elementary School of Technology (FESoT) on November 7, 2019, to recognize neighbors for their military service.
Falcon High School Air Force ROTC students were present to serve as Color Guard for the ceremony, and veterans entered the gymnasium under a traditional Saber Arch, presented by the Falcon High School ROTC Saber Team.
The assembly started with a moment of silence led by Dr. Roth, the school Principal, followed by TAPs, and a moment of silence. Fourth-grade students presented a Video for Veterans, and fifth-grade students read opinion papers they wrote to share their thoughts on what military service looks like for them and their futures.
Singing and classroom skits led up to the grand finale of an Armed Services Medley where different grade levels at the school sang the fight songs of each military branch: Army (Kindergarten & 1st Grade); Navy (2nd Grade); Marines (3rd Grade); Coast Guard (4th Grade); and Air Force (5th Grade).
Service personnel and military families are celebrated every day at the school. As visitors move through the hall to the cafeteria, they pass by the Wall of Honor. A display where photos of active duty and military veteran family members are shared with viewers. This wall serves to remind students that they, and our freedoms, are protected every day. Protected by those who love them; protected by all of those who serve in the United States Military.
