Sand Creek High Celebrates Class of 2018

SCHS Graduation Sand Creek High School graduates and family members waited to enter the World Arena late afternoon on Saturday, May 26, 2018 for the Class of 2018 Graduation Ceremony.

274 Sand Creek seniors received their diploma on Saturday.

“It’s been one wild ride. Four years have come and gone and we couldn’t have done it without those around us,” said, Kendyll Cox, senior class president.

“High school isn’t like high school musical at all. There aren’t people breaking out to choreographed dances in the middle of lunch, except me on the occasional Tuesday,” said Mehki Reese, student body president.

After a beautiful performance of “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman by Sand Creek Choir, valedictorian, Katrina Smith, gave her speech.

“We are who we are today because of the people here. I am who I am not just because of my friends, my family or favorite teachers. I am who I am because of them and people I don’t even know. That could be said for every one of us,” stated Smith.

Teacher of the Year, Linda Herrera, gave a touching speech using the Boston Marathon winner, Desiree Linden, as an example of why it’s important to show up.

Students were then awarded diplomas followed by the tassel ceremony. Teachers and faculty created a celebratory tunnel to lead the Class of 2018 out the doors to meet their families.
