Staff Training: Learning for REAL

On our continued journey to excellence, D49 leadership is introducing a new training course - Learning for REAL. It's training that's relevant, consistent and REAL.

R = Regulatory
E = Ethical
A = Accreditation
L = Legal

Learning for REAL topics and lessons are essential to all team members and accessible via Schoology. Training modules are comprised of a short PowerPoint slide deck, and a brief quiz to check for understanding and acknowledgment. Most modules will take 5-10 minutes to complete. Total time to complete the entire course is estimated at two hours.  

How will I access the training? Login to Schoology and find Learning for REAL in your courses. Once you log in, you will find more detailed instructions for completing the course. The link to the Learning for REAL course is here:

Who needs to complete the training? All full-time and part-time employees.

What topics are covered in the course? Modules have been developed for each of the following topics:

  1. Employee Handbook

  2. Respectful Workplace (Harassment Awareness)

  3. Professional Conduct/Boundaries with Students

  4. Technology Usage and Data Privacy

  5. Title IX

  6. FERPA

  7. Understanding Section 504

  8. Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse/Neglect

  9. Supervision of Students

  10. Mental Health Signs/Safe2Tell

  11. The McKinney-Vento Act/Education of the Homeless

When and where should I complete the course?  All employees should complete the training during work time. All modules are to be completed by February 28, 2020. The course is designed to be completed individually - it is not a group project.  

Do I have to complete the course all at one time? No. The module design allows you to complete the course all at once, or one module at a time.

Will I get credit through the Aha! Network for completing this course?  Staff can receive a certificate of completion through the Aha! Network for a total of 2.0 contact hours. Please register HERE by February 28, 2020 as attendance will be taken in early March.
