Friday the thirteenth and a harvest full moon proved to be good luck for the Sand Creek Scorpions for their homecoming football game vs. Cheyenne Mountain on Sept. 13.
Students gathered before the game for a chili cook-off and pre-game festivities.
The Scorpions are off to a great start this season with new head coach, James Everett. Scoring within the first ten minutes of the game provided entertainment leading into the halftime show where the marching band and color guard put on a performance.
The homecoming court was then escorted onto the field by their friends and loved ones.
Abby Teeples, senior, and Manuel Delrosario, senior, were crowned homecoming queen and king.
“Being crowned homecoming queen was like living in a fairytale,” exclaimed Abby Teeples. “It feels really nice to be supported and recognized by my classmates who I have grown and made memories with since we first became scorpions back at the start of freshman year. The friendships and experiences I’ve had through high school are far greater than any crown I could ever ask for.”
Scorpions stung their opponents in a 21-6 victory.
