The District 49 Board of Education directors approved May 3 funding for a modular replacement project at Odyssey Elementary school that will include the construction of the ALLIES learning center.

The 15,300 sq. ft. building will include a dedicated ALLIES entrance and office, six small group therapy rooms for Take Flight intervention instruction and seven larger classrooms for ALLIES learners. In total, more than 8,000 sq. ft. of the facility is dedicated to ALLIES. The western portion of the facility will hold Odyssey Elementary school classes and will be connected to the main school building via a hallway as depicted in the architectual rendering.

The building will be constructed using funds from several sources, including 3B priority two project funds from Odyssey Elementary School and additional ALLIES contribution funds approved by BOE directors at the May 3 meeting.

"We are excited about this space," said Rebecca Thompson, ALLIES director of academic services. "We'll launch the school year in the modulars while construction happens. Our eyes are set on brand new spaces to continue learning in the spring."
