The Yale Young Global Scholars Program is pleased to announce a new program for talented high school students, which will take place in Beijing, China, from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, 2016. YYGS-Beijing will bring together students with the drive, energy, vision, and potential to make meaningful impacts as young leaders. The program will take place at Yale Center Beijing and will include in-depth sessions on the United States college application process, as well feature top Yale University professors who will introduce their fields of expertise and offer advice on how to excel at Yale and peer institutions.
The Yale Young Global Scholars-Beijing curriculum is designed to help prepare emerging student leaders for continued success in high school, college, and beyond. Participants learn to recognize and understand global issues, develop responses, and generate solutions. In presentations given by Yale faculty and skill development workshops offered by Yale graduate students, participants will:
YYGS-Beijing is limited to 100 participants in 9th and 10th grade, who have at least two full years remaining in high school. Applicants can be residents or citizens of any country. The competitive application is now available, and students are required to submit a few essays along with a video response, TOEFL English-language score, resume or CV, and school transcript. YYGS-Beijing is a residential program where admitted students live together for six nights under adult supervision and attend seven full days of programming at the Yale Center Beijing. There is a $55 USD application fee and the cost per an admitted student is $3,500 USD. Financial assistance is need-based and available to those who qualify and submit detailed supporting documentation.

- Hone their abilities to think critically and write persuasively;
- Engage productively with a diverse group of peers;
- Develop strong English language communications skills;
- Meet distinguished scholars and practitioners in a wide range of fields, including history, economics, public health, innovation and entrepreneurship, international affairs, and applied science;
- Learn how to master core elements of the U.S. college application process, to include writing a personal statement, creating a resume, and studying for standardized tests; and
- Experience the style of a liberal arts education, such as small-group discussions, one-on-one mentoring, and exposure to world-class professors.

Now in its 14th year, the Yale Young Global Scholars Program is a summer enrichment and leadership skill-building program at Yale University for outstanding high school students from around the world, many of whom are from China and elsewhere in Asia.
