Patriot High School culinary arts students cooked and served food for over 100 Falcon community members during the school’s annual pre-Thanksgiving luncheon, Nov. 14.
The event, in its tenth year, caters to the Falcon/Peyton area senior citizens group as well as the local Falcon Fire Department.
“It is an absolute pleasure to give back to the community, and my students get as much from this event as the seniors and first responders do,” said Eric Lustig, PHS culinary arts teacher. “We are incredibly appreciative of the ballot measure that community members voted for a couple of years ago. With that money, we were able to purchase a state of the art kitchen so we can give our students a real chance at a professional culinary arts career when they leave our doors.”
Students enrolled in the school’s culinary arts program are taught skills in food preparation, cooking and serving and many receive professional certifications at graduation.
