Todd Matia, Sand Creek High School Project Lead the Way instructor, recognizes three Daniels Scholarship Program scholarship winners during “Fantastic 49” recognition April 9, 2015, ahead of a monthly Board of Education meeting in District 49.
Matia introduced 12th-graders Philip Garcia, 18, Pierce Davies, 18, and Phillip Dupree, 18. The scholarship is open to any university, and covers tuition and fees room and board, books and supplies, as well as other miscellaneous educational expenses. Sand Creek High School was one of six schools across Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming to achieve three or more scholars.
Dupree said he’s planning to study chemical engineering at Texas A&M University, Garcia wanted to study computer science at University of Colorado Boulder, and Davies was looking into an engineering program at University of Colorado Boulder.
