A blast of cold weather started moving quickly into northern and eastern El Paso county Wednesday afternoon. Forecasts indicate wind-chills will dip below zero into the double-digits overnight with the potential for freezing fog to coincide with the normal departure time of our busses Thursday morning. Along with the dangerous temperatures we anticipate the possibility of hazardous travel Thursday, so School District 49 will delay two hours Thursday, February 7.
Falcon High will be on an E-learning day and SSAE will have a virtual schedule. We will continue monitoring conditions to determine if a closure is necessary. Please check social media and our website for up-to-date information.
As always, our first priority is the safety of students and staff all over the district. Because our bus and personal transportation routes support many students and staff who travel across zones, we make our weather call decision by evaluating overall conditions that might put any district students or staff at risk. We thank you for your trust and understanding.
