Seventh grader Caity Chudzinski, 12, watches classmate Jessie Harvilicz, 11, offer important questions, concerning Marco Polo's journey across the Silk Road hundreds of years ago, Aug. 21, 2013, at Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning in Falcon School District 49. Dean Jaegor, a history and reading teacher, said the students will create a website that'll explain the road and its influence on modern day trading. The preschool-eighth grade charter school, established in 2000, recently recorded the district’s highest scores in the Transitional Colorado Assessment Program. According to results released Aug. 14 by the Colorado Department of Education, 96 percent of its students achieved at advanced or proficient levels in eighth grade reading. The school saw its highest scores in more than five years across numerous grade levels and content areas.
