D49 Partners with FEF to Honor Outstanding Individuals
In collaboration with the Falcon Education Foundation, District 49 honored 12 outstanding staff, students and volunteers during the March 11 Fantastic 49 presentation at the Creekside Success Center. All honorees were described as exceptional people with unwavering character and a true passion for making District 49 “the best choice to learn, work and lead.”
The foundation coordinates an annual awards program to recognize outstanding individuals in D49, and plans were to celebrate the honorees at the foundation’s spring fundraising dinner and auction. Since hosting the large event isn’t feasible due to COVID-19 limitations, the foundation and District 49 partnered to ensure the following individuals received accolades before the most recent board meeting:
Karen Bixler, Instructional Coach at Stetson Elementary School
DeDe Bolke, Volunteer at Vista Ridge High School
Benjamin Brown, CMSgt, USAF (Ret), Aerospace Science Instructor at Sand Creek High School
Greg Cox, Dean of Students at Patriot High School
Elizabeth Dalzell-Wagers, Assistant Principal at Horizon Middle School
Karen Duncan, Special Education Paraprofessional at ALLIES
Jeric Goin, Eighth-Grade Student at Falcon Middle School
Darlene Hammann, Retired Registrar at Falcon Middle School
Söndra Rymer, Discovery Professor at ALLIES
Kortney Sorensen, Former P.E. Teacher at Falcon High School
Cathy Tinucci, Retired Principal at Skyview Middle School
Riley Trujillo, Fifth-Grade Student at ALLIES
“One of our greatest pleasures as a board member is to recognize D49 staff, teachers and students for all they do,” said John Graham, board of education president. “We are very, very proud of you and all the efforts that you put in to benefit our students and community. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.”
Fantastic 49 is the district’s recognition program that celebrates fantastic staff, students and community members before each regular board of education meeting.
