Career Construction Club Brings First Graders Toy Cars, Recognition

Toy Cars High school students delivered 119 toy cars to first graders Dec. 10 at Remington Elementary School in District 49. They were part of a 25-member team from the Career Construction Club at Sand Creek High School.

“They may not be the biggest and best cars out there today, but we worked really hard on them,” said 12th-grader Austin Lehman, 17, while reading a letter explaining high school life and the importance of first graders. “This is the season for giving, and we’re here to give these toys to you.”

Industrial arts teacher Danny Unruh described the gesture as empowering.

“It’s about the gift of giving and recognizing our first graders, as the future leaders of District 49,” said Unruh.

Last week, his students at Patriot Learning Center delivered toy cars to Falcon Elementary School.
