HMS Students Make Connections
Sixth-graders enrolled in the Innovations Institute created circuits and gaming control boards Feb.19 at Horizon Middle School. The students were using MaKey, MaKey invention kits, which “turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet.”
“The people that have really been the most successful with electronics, and just engineering in general, are people that developed a passion in fifth and sixth grade, ” said Courtney Hutchinson, program leader. She explained that those passionate students learn and listen more, and may choose a career in the electronics or engineering field later in life.
The sixth-graders have been learning about components and circuits for multiple weeks to prepare them for the complex use and application of the kits.
