Connie Michaels-Lipp, Academy of Health Sciences program coordinator, was recognized as the Colorado HOSA Advisor of the Year. Marissa Maikell, student president of Falcon High School HOSA, expressed her gratitude towards Michaels-Lipp and the program.
"I'm passionate about healthcare and helping people,” she said. “It’s all because of Ms. Lipp and the program that she has helped set up.”
Two Falcon High School program graduates are attending the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and have started their own HOSA chapter. “I’m just very proud of them,” said Michaels-Lipp.
Brett Ridgway, chief business officer, recognized Falcon Community Builders for Classrooms.The group of homebuilders supported the district by funding construction projects, and items such as scoreboards and artificial turf. They have donated more than $5 million dollars in monetary donations to District 49 since 2008.
Marie LaVere-Wright, Board of Education president, expressed her gratitude towards the FCBC for investing in the community. “We truly appreciate what you are doing for our children,” she said.
Recently, the FCBC donated the entire cost of a truck that will be used to transport mail, furniture, technology equipment and other items between District 49 schools and facilities.
"These builders are a great asset and a great partner to us.” said Ridgway.
Members of the Stetson Elementary School choir, the “Raiders of the FINE ARTS,” performed “Do I Dare?” a song with an anti-substance abuse theme, and “Kyrie Eleison” which included numerous arrangements.
Becca Garner, music teacher, explained that the fourth- and fifth-graders have been singing together since late January. “They’re very impressive,” she said.
The choir will sing “God Bless America” during the the Sky Sox baseball game April 15.
