2021-22 Lunch Update & Free and Reduced Information

School Meals at No Cost for 2021-22

Dear D49 Families,

We are pleased to announce School District 49 will provide meals at no cost for all in-person learners this school year. This is an official extension of the service that began last year and is supported by the United States Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.

  • Breakfasts and lunches will be at no cost for the entire 2021-22 school year for in-person learners
  • Staff and approved visitors can purchase meals
  • A la Carte will be available at secondary schools for purchase
  • There are currently no meal options for e-learning

To best serve the entire D49 community, we strongly encourage all who qualify or may qualify for the Free and Reduced Benefits Program to apply or reapply by Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.

It is extremely important that all qualifying families complete the application process, regardless of the availability of meals at no cost for D49 families. This will ensure families have access to all the benefits provided, which support programs at your student’s schools and include individual assistance for school and transportation fees. We encourage families to apply even if they have been denied in the past, and especially if their financial situation has changed in recent months.

Please Note: Families must reapply for this program every year. After Friday, Sept. 10, all families who have not reapplied for the 2021-22 school year will be removed from the benefit program.

Families who are new to the Free and Reduced program can register and apply, and qualifying families may reapply today, by clicking this link to PaySchools Central
