Dear D49 Families,

It is our pleasure to share in every student’s life by serving them a nutritious meal at an affordable price. In compliance with federal regulations, D49 Nutrition Services operates as a self-funded enterprise (a not-for-profit business) within the school district. To balance current  increased costs for food nationwide, the D49 Board of Education approved the following prices for breakfast and lunch at D49: 

Meal Prices SY 22-23

• Elementary:
• Breakfast $2.50
• Lunch $4.00
• Secondary:
• Breakfast $2.75
• Lunch $4.35
• Adult (without milk):
• Breakfast $3.00
• Lunch $ 4.75

D49 nutrition services is not supported by the district’s general fund, and does not operate at a profit from collected fees. Because Congress did not include an extension of the school nutrition waivers that have for two years provided meals at no-cost to all students, District 49 will resume our traditional practice of charging for meals in the 2022-23 school year. This is standard, normal procedure that keeps school districts in compliance with federal regulations on nutrition.
