SRES Updates

  • UPDATE TO SCHS/RES/SRES FAMILIES:

School District 49’s law enforcement partners at the Colorado Springs Police Department have cleared an active investigation in a neighborhood near Sand Creek High School and surrounding areas. CSPD reports there is no danger to our schools and buildings. Accordingly, lockout status is lifted at SCHS, RES, SRES and RMCA. Schools will operate as normal at these locations for Wednesday, April 17.

It is important to stress this activity has nothing to do with an alert police have put in place for schools in the Denver Metro area.

The events of Wednesday morning created a need to safely move and hold students from the Sand Creek Zone at a secure location.

    • Students who were diverted to Creekside Success Center will be walked by administrative staff to SCHS to resume their normal schedule.

    • Students who were diverted by bus to Vista Ridge High School will be bused back to SCHS to resume their normal schedule.

    • Horizon Middle School Students who were diverted will be bused back to HMS to resume their normal schedule.

RES, SRES, and RMCA will also resume normal activities for Wednesday, April 17.

We thank you for your trust and understanding.

    Sincerely,

    David Nancarrow

    Director of Communications

Dear Springs Ranch Elementary School Families,

On Thursday, at approximately 11:00 a.m. our law enforcement partners at the Colorado Springs Police Department alerted SRES administrators about police activity east of the school. SRES administrators immediately placed the school on lockout status when they received the alert. Students and staff remained inside the buildings, and the school restricted visitors, which follows our lockout procedures.

The CSPD has cleared the area, and the lockout was lifted at 12:45 p.m. Please click here for more information.

  • Principal's Post:

Practice doesn’t make perfect, but perfect practice makes perfect. We actually aren’t looking for perfection. Excellence is a better word to use. As we continue our second semester, we are stressing to our students to keeping putting forth great effort and keep focusing on improving.  Very soon our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be taking the state CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) Tests. Our students have worked hard all year and these tests are a chance for our students to show what they have learned.  Our K -2 students, though not taking state standardized tests have opportunities to show their growth on other assessments. Again, we work to help kids see the progress they’re making and emphasize what they can do to improve. We always want to celebrate their accomplishments and efforts! During February, you have the opportunity to hear from your child about their progress during our student led conferences. Please do not hesitate to ask questions of your child and your child’s teacher. As always, we our thankful for your partnership as we provide educational opportunities for your child.

    .
