  • WEATHER ALERT!

Due to the weather today, we will be running our 6th Grade Weather Schedule. 6th grade students will have 3rd and 4th periods twice today to eliminate the 2nd grand pass due to the weather. Students that are in Bennett Ranch Elementary for their morning classes will finish the day in Bennett Ranch Elementary. Students that have their morning classes at Falcon Middle will remain in Falcon Middle today and not pass to Bennett Ranch this afternoon. What this means is that students will be ending their day at the opposite building they are normally dismissed from for today, Friday, January 18th.

Students will plan on following their normal pick up location, unless the parent calls the office to make other arrangements.

On Tuesday, January 22nd, students will only have periods 5 and 6 to make up the time from today. For Tuesday, students will have lunch in the opposite building that they normally do, but their dismissal will be from the usual place.

As always, let us know if you have any questions.

    Greetings Falcon Middle School Families,

A smoke alarm was activated early this morning at approximately 7:58 a.m. FMS administrators immediately evacuated the school. All students moved quickly and safely to the softball field while our partners at the Falcon Fire Department dispatched a crew to FMS.

FMS administrators discovered the source of the smoke was burning food in a microwave. FFD searched the affected area and gave the all clear to return to normal activities. Students returned to the building at 8:12 a.m., approximately 15 minutes after the initial alarm to continue their day at FMS.

D49 thanks our partners at the Falcon Fire Department and encourages all of our staff, students and families to stay alert for anything unusual. D49 will continue to be proactive and partner with first responders to ensure a safe learning environment awaits every District 49 learner.

    Sincerely,

    Brian Smith
    Principal, FMS

  • Greetings Falcon Middle School Families,

A smell of smoke was noticed today Dec. 7 at Falcon Middle School at approximately 2:45 p.m. FMS administrators immediately evacuated the school. All students moved quickly and safely to the softball field while our partners at the Falcon Fire Department began their initial investigation.

The evacuation disrupted the normal release time at FMS, but students were allowed to return to the building to gather their belongings when it was determined the building was safe.

Students began meeting their parents, or boarding busses close to 3:30 p.m., which created a resulting delay getting busses to elementary schools in the Falcon Zone. The source of the smell of smoke was still under investigation when students were released.

All after school activities at FMS were cancelled for Friday. **NOTE** If students did not get their belongings before leaving Friday afternoon, they may return to FMS before 9pm Friday night to collect their things.

As always, we thank you for your trust and understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Brian Smith
    Principal, FMS

  • Today, Wednesday, November 7th, Falcon Middle School participated in an exercise with the El Paso County Sheriff K-9 Unit. The team brought their drug-sniffing dog to the campus to check the building. This is a proactive step we take each year to ensure that our building is clear of any illegal substances. We put the school on a modified lockdown so that the students remained in classrooms and instruction could still take place. Upon completion, the lockdown was lifted and our full regular schedule resumed. We appreciate the collaboration with the Sheriff’s office on this exercise.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

  • Were you unable to attend our PowerSchool Parent Support Night?

If you are looking to create your account to access PowerSchool, here were the two biggest tips that emerged:

    1. Make sure you are using the Parent ID.  This will be your child's last name followed by a three-digit number.
    2. The password should be a string of numbers that are familiar.

For a step-by-step walkthrough, you can use this guide.
