Community Meeting, Topic 2: Purposes of FHS System

  • The next round of discussion focused on the purposes of the education system, (learning, assessment, feedback and documentation) at Falcon High School. Table teams discussed what the educational system should do for students, parents and staff. The small groups also described the kinds of skills a Falcon High School student should have after graduating from this system.

Again, major themes emerged from the group's story-boarding process.

The video below shows some of the small group discussion that was happening around the emergent and consensus themes. Content produced by the table teams is grouped in the frames to the right. Recall that the dots on each card were added later in the evening. Participants used a limited number of dots to indicate items of "high value" or "high importance".

Isn't it helpful to know who you're talking with? To help facilitate generative and respectful dialogue, we're asking everyone to register and sign in (remember, ParentPortal accounts are not the same as D49.org accounts, but we're working on tying those two systems together).

To help school and district leaders respond to your input, please review the results of the first meeting regarding the purposes of the educational system at Falcon High School and then respond to the following questions:

    1) Are there themes you strongly disagree with or strongly support? Why?

    2) After reviewing the themes and individual cards is there anything that you feel must be added?

Please be specific in your comments as we will use them to shape the next community meeting on March 5.
