  • Bus Drivers We're a Team Focused on Student Safety

School District 49's transportation department is looking for individuals who're interested in operating a vehicle over a designated route or trip while monitoring surroundings and passengers. Our bus drivers remain responsible for performing pre-trip requirements for safety and maintenance, and other district vehicles, per Colorado Department of Education requirements and the Commercial Drivers License compliance section. Our drivers are often called upon to operate safety equipment including wheelchair lifts, restraints, car seats and vests. Our focus on student safety compels an ability to maintain bus cleanliness and orderliness.
We value working as a team on a daily basis, as we prepare mileage sheets and account for our students, hours worked, repair orders, log sheets and trip sheets. We also team up with those outside our department, such as administrators, teachers, coaches and parents, to solve problems concerning student transportation and safety. Our drivers routinely attend training to learn more about transporting students with disabilities, as well as participate in scheduled in-service and safety meetings.
Our values related to trustworthiness and dependability cannot be overstated. Our drivers are expected to immediately report bus accidents or incidents to their supervisors. They must demonstrate integrity in following safe student management procedures on buses. They also must pass random alcohol and drug tests.
There are several steps in the procedure for becoming a professional bus driver. We will help you along that path with information and resources to accomplish these requirements.

New training rate of pay starting July 1st, 2024 will be $19.62/hour.

After completion of training, the new starting rate will be $21.43/hour.  This could increase up to $25.67, capping out at 20 years experience.
