Substitute Boot Camp

  • Colorado Substitute Boot Camp: a free, virtual seminar specifically designed to support and assist new substitute teachers with starting their first day on the job. Participants will learn about their role and responsibilities as a substitute teacher, including:

    • Responsibilities of a Substitute or Guest Teacher when the teacher is absent.
    • Understanding and executing academic lesson plans.
    • Classroom management and identification of challenged and high-needs students.
    • Maintaining appropriate student records for a teacher who is absent.
    • School policy and emergency response.

Participants will also have opportunities for networking and connecting with experienced educators. Substitute Boot Camps are led by experienced educators and will feature guest speakers currently working in Colorado's K-12 classrooms.

Substitute Boot Camps are facilitated in the online course system Moodle.  Once you register using the form below, you will receive an email from Moodle within 5 business days on how to finish setting up your account and how to access your course.  After that, you can complete the course at any time.  It should take about two hours to complete.
