Welcome to District 49 Early Childhood Education!

District 49 offers a high-quality, inclusive preschool program that serves the developmental needs of children, starting at age 3 until they are eligible for kindergarten. We welcome students who reside within D49 boundaries.

Our classrooms are designed to support children’s learning through guided play opportunities in a nurturing and caring environment.  Our students learn to develop healthy skills in social-emotional, learning, communication, self-help, and coordination.

We will continue to provide high-quality preschool education for our students while closely monitoring the State’s build-out of its Universal Preschool (UPK) framework, which is (with some limited exceptions) designed to offer state-funded preschool at no cost to 4-year-olds the year before going into Kindergarten. Our commitment is first and foremost to the families and students we serve, and we will provide important updates to UPK on our website when we have them. We appreciate your trust and support, and we are excited to serve you.

Our online preschool application for the upcoming school year will open on Monday, March 13, 2023
