District 49 Launches the Student Success Center

District 49 is taking an exciting step forward in supporting every learner while thoughtfully planning for the future. Starting with the 2026–2027 school year, the former Falcon Elementary site will open its doors as the D49 Student Success Center (SSC). By shifting programs out of aging modular buildings and separate spaces into a permanent, fully equipped school facility, D49 is maximizing district-owned property in a budget-neutral approach that prioritizes student opportunity and fiscal responsibility.

The facility will host two full-time preschool classrooms—offering Monday through Thursday early childhood education along with Base49 before, after, and Friday care. In addition, the PEAK and Elevates programs will call the SSC home, giving students access to specialized instruction, hands-on life-skills equipment, a full gymnasium, and a real cafeteria. The site will also centralize the district’s Motor Team, Assistive Technology Team, School to Workforce Alliance program coordinator, and the homebound special education teacher.

"We've been given this opportunity to move some of our programs into the Falcon Elementary School and rename it as the Student Success Center,” shared Dr. Nancy Lemmond, Deputy Superintendent and Executive Director of Individualized Education. "I really appreciate that we've been given this opportunity to move our programs in, expand our offerings, and provide that same rich, real-school experience to our students."

This strategic realignment is part of District 49’s commitment to long-range growth and responsible stewardship. Leveraging an existing building to create shared learning spaces means the district eliminates duplicate purchasing costs for life-skills appliances and temporary facility maintenance. Most importantly, bringing these programs into a unified home ensures that every student, from early childhood through young adulthood, is empowered to reach their full potential in a welcoming and supportive community.
