2026–27 Back-to-School FAQs

The first day of school is almost here, and we know this time of year comes with lots of questions. We've gathered many of the most commonly requested back-to-school resources and compiled them into a convenient guide.

We welcome everyone to scan through this list of 2026–27 Back-to-School FAQs which are designed to help D49 families quickly find useful information and have more time to get ready for an exciting new school year.
 

When does school start?

  • August 3: First day for Kindergarten, 6th Grade, and 9th Grade students
  • August 4: First day for all students
  • August 10: First day for preschool students

How do I register my student or verify enrollment?

Please contact District 49 Central Registration to:

  • Verify your student's enrollment
  • Register a new student
  • Update your address
  • Submit residency documents

Parent Portal (PowerSchool)

The PowerSchool Parent Portal gives parents and guardians secure, real-time access to important student information, including:

  • Grades and attendance
  • Class schedules
  • Report cards
  • School fees
  • Transportation information
  • Student registration information
  • Emergency contacts

New to District 49?
If you're creating a Parent Portal account for the first time, follow these step-by-step instructions.

Already have an account? If you already have a Parent Portal account for another District 49 student, simply sign in to your existing account and add your additional student(s) through Account Preferences.

Need to log in? PowerSchool Parent Portal

Having trouble logging in? If you're unable to create your account, receive an error message, or don't have your Parent Access ID and Access Password, please contact your child's school for assistance. 

When will I find out my student's teacher, class schedule, or Meet the Teacher information?

Teacher assignments, class schedules, Meet the Teacher events, and other school-specific information are coordinated by each individual school. Please visit your school's website or contact the school directly for the most up-to-date information. 

Where can I find my school supply list? 

School supply lists are available on each school's Back-to-School webpage. 

Transportation

Transportation applications are completed through the Parent Portal.

Once logged into PowerSchool, you can:

  • Submit your transportation application
  • Select the student(s) needing transportation
  • Choose your payment option

A member of the transportation team will reach out by phone when bus passes are ready for pickup.

Nutrition Services

Families approved for Education Benefits for Families (Free & Reduced) during the 2025–26 school year must reapply for 2026–27.

Beginning July 17, applications can be completed online. 

The Nutrition Services Team has posted additional information.  

Base49 

New for 2026–27:

  • Families attending Falcon Elementary will register under Bennett Ranch Elementary.
  • Before- and after-school care is now available for full-day preschool students at the Student Success Center.

Registration is now open.
