The Vista Ridge Class of 2025 Calls it a Wrap
For about two hours Friday, May 23, the Broadmoor World Arena was wolf territory. Clad in black robes and mortar boards, the seniors of Vista Ridge High School sat in the center of the arena floor, assembled for the last time, as classmates.
Tom Payne, the students’ proud principal, led off the graduation ceremony with a few words of encouragement.
“You've balanced academics, extracurriculars, friendships, and the burning question of ‘What am I doing with my life?’” Mr. Payne began. “And you know what? You're here. You did it. You are one ceremony short of taking the next step.”
Stepping onto the stage next was VRHS Valedictorian, Mallory Lewis, who embraced a theme of perseverance and grit in her speech to her classmates.
“Many of us will be venturing off and taking on new challenges away from home, family, and friends. This can seem daunting, exciting, or maybe a bit of both. Either way, strive to challenge yourself and find ways to learn from every situation,” she said. “As you venture into new stages of your life, be willing to work hard and push yourself to achieve significant accomplishments.”
Salutatorian Juliet Olson led the turning of the tassel tradition to conclude the ceremony reminding her friends why they gathered for the culminating event of their high school journey.
“Today is not only a day to reflect on the past, but to envision the future,” said Juliet. “The many mistakes and mishaps we've had finding our way through high school will give us the tools to face whatever challenges come in our futures. This is just the start of the rest of our lives. And though the world is a tumultuous place, I believe that we can all make it better.”
Congratulations to the VRHS Class of 2025!
