Sand Creek Zone Families Make Blankets for Service Project
On December 2, staff, students and families from the Sand Creek Zone gathered for a holiday blanket marketing party at the Creekside Success Center. The event was lead, run and organized by Sand Creek High School students, and the blankets were donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
Keira Teeples, SCHS student body president, said that she was inspired by the smaller drive last year, and wanted to expand it to include more schools. “There’s a special feeling when people come together and do something bigger than themselves,” she said.
JoAnn Fabric and Crafts donated a $100 dollar gift card, which was used to purchase fleece. During the party, elementary, middle and high school students, staff and parents made 40 blankets. They will be added to the 100 that have already been donated by other families in the zone.
“I really like seeing the community bond like this,” said Violet Carroll, SCHS student body co-president.
