Fighting Falcons Tune-Up for 2024

Fighting Falcons Tune-Up for 2024

The FHS Fighting Falcon Regiment is prepping for the marching band season one step at a time.

“I started planning this show in February of this year and they’ve had the music since May. They’ve been working pretty hard at it, and we’re excited to showcase it,” says band director Travis Yager.

Their half-time show, “Cirque du Regiment,” is a three-part story inviting the audience into a dark circus involving clowns, a fortune teller, and a three-ring circus.

“We’ve got cool effects and if you’re a fan of Harley Quinn, then come out to any Falcon home football game. It’s going to be a fun season,” says Yager.

The Fighting Falcon Regiment spends an average of 13-15 hours a week rehearsing their show, the equivalent of a part-time job for many high school students.

Competition days alone could be that long with travel time, initially slated performances, and additional performances if they qualify for finals.

“Marching band is great for a lot of these students because it’s an outlet. It’s a way for them to express. Their greatest memories are typically from marching band events,” adds Yager. “It’s not just competing out on the field, it’s hanging out at the competitions, watching the other bands, and eating nachos during third quarter of the home football game.”

The band has doubled in size in this year, and with that comes the need for additional uniforms, instruments, props, maintenance equipment, and travel expenses.

The regiment has a chance this year to make every one of their steps count by raising pledges from Fighting Falcon fans. Whether it’s a flat contribution, or in per-step increments, FHS will raise the cash they need to cover the costs of a program that is twice as big as it was only a year ago.

They’re closing in on the finish line, having already secured 75% of their goal.

You can see their first performance of “Cirque de Regiment” this Friday during halftime of the Falcon High vs. Rampart football game.
