Fantastic 49 Honorees Step Up With Support

District 49 hosted September’s Fantastic 49 celebration on September 25, 2024 before the monthly Board of Education work session. Honorees included a bus driver who is not just behind the wheel, but in the stands, cheering on our athletes; a dedicated community volunteer who makes it their mission to ensure no child goes hungry; and an athletic secretary who lends her skills and knowledge to a neighboring zone.

Brandon Stegman and Patrick Rose

The first honoree of the evening was Patrick Rose, all purpose bus driver. He was nominated by Brandon Stegman, Falcon High School head baseball coach. Rose demonstrates the importance of supporting students both on and off the field. He provides a welcoming and supportive environment for the athletes. “He gets to know the kids,” Stegman said, describing the difference it makes for students to have a bus driver who cares about them and their team.

Cari Muresan and Margaret Birky

Margaret Birky, Woodmen Valley Chapel ACTS coordinator, was nominated by Cari Muresan, Falcon Zone Community Liaison. Birky and her team go above and beyond to make sure students in the Falcon Zone are taken care of. She is always eager to help with weekly food bags for families, as well as snacks, Thanksgiving meal kits, and holiday event invitations. “I’m incredibly grateful for your partnership,” said Muresan.

Dave Pratt, Barbara Johnson and Elizabeth Vigil

The presentation concluded by recognizing Barbara Johnson, Sand Creek High School athletic secretary. She was nominated by Elizabeth Vigil, Vista Ridge High School athletic secretary. Johnson generously shares her knowledge and expertise with her neighboring school’s athletic department. “Wolf or scorpion, it doesn’t matter to Barb,” said Vigil.
