Fantastic 49 Honorees Showcase Their Exemplary Support

District 49 hosted November’s Fantastic 49 celebration on November 14 before the monthly Board of Education meeting. The meeting was hosted by The Campus, home to Springs Studio for Academic Excellence and Pikes Peak Early College, as part of a series of showcase meetings that will be held in different schools across the district.

Verenice Gutierrez and Izzy Izboinikov

The first honoree of the evening was Vladislav “Izzy” Izboinikov, Coordinator of Special Student Projects for the iConnect Zone. Izzy oversees a variety of programs that serve very niche populations. He has grown these programs and they have a great reputation due to his commitment to ensuring that students have the best options to meet their learning needs.

He was nominated by Verenice Gutierrez, iConnect Zone Superintendent. “Izzy exemplifies our cultural compass,” said Gutierrez. “We are very, very fortunate to have him in the iConnect Zone."

David Oden, Matt Wirt, and Jack Pietraallo

The next honoree Matt Wirt, Transportation Student Management Liaison. He was nominated by David Oden, who also works in transportation. Matt is an exceptional trainer, along with the other hats he wears within transportation. He ensures his trainee have all the tools they need to succeed.

“Matt is such a great asset to our team,” said Jack Pietraallo, Director of Transportation.  “Every single person that sits down in front of me tells me what a great teacher Matt is."

The next honoree was Jamie Zaves, Behavioral Analyst for the Sand Creek Zone. Jamie provides guidance and support to schools and teachers. She stepped up after a school lost an important Special Education asset, and put all her effort, time and skills to create a safe, functional and caring classroom.

Brandi Pri, Behavioral Support Tech, nominated Zaves. “I am grateful and thankful to have the ability to work beside her,” she said.  “I look up to her for her strength and ability to flood her compassion for students into every building she walks into.”

Brian Smith and Cari Muresan

The final honoree of the evening was Cari Muresan, Falcon Zone Community Liaison. Cari has exceeded expectations for engaging with the Falcon Zone community. She has taken the lead on new recognition efforts, organizing events, and publicizing stories that engage parents and students.

She was nominated by Brian Smith, Falcon Zone Superintendent. “Cari has completely exceeded our expectations in what she does,” he said.
