Fantastic 49 Honorees Are Dedicated to Elevating Our Staff & Students
District 49 hosted October’s Fantastic 49 celebration on October 10, before the monthly Board of Education meeting. Honorees included an instructional coach who has been the driving force behind a grant, and parent volunteers who literally go the extra mile to support their children’s school.
The first honoree of the evening was Carolyn Merritt, Sand Creek Zone Instructional Coach. Merrit has supported and mentored 170 teachers and leaders in DNA math strategies as part of a five year grant. She was nominated by Christina Tiernan, Coordinator of Math Performance, who could not be in attendance. The math team, consisting of Jody Reynolds, Viola Lee, and Desiree Magana, honored Merritt on her behalf. “It has been an honor to be a part of such impactful work for our teachers,” said Merritt. “Although I’m the one standing up here getting recognized, truly, the teachers in D49 who have been a part of mission DNA….they’re the ones who truly deserve the recognition.”
The next honorers were Christine and Cory Beasley, parent volunteers at Spring Ranch Elementary School. They were nominated by Julie Jablonski, STREAM Teacher. “The Beasly family is truly one of a kind,” said Jablonski. “We are so grateful they chose our school and appreciate what they do for all of us.”
The Beaslys have two students attending SRES, and another who attended the school for all five grade levels. They commute daily, sometimes multiple times a day, from the Falcon area to SRES, and are committed to supporting students and staff through their volunteering. “It is absolutely worth the drive every day,” said Mrs. Beasly. “We are so happy to be a part of the Spring Ranch community and glad that we can help out and be present at the school.”
