Falcon Zone Ag Day

Falcon Zone Ag Day

Students from Bennett Ranch Elementary, Falcon Middle, and Falcon High School had the opportunity to meet and learn about horses, pigs, goats, poultry, and more at the second annual Agriculture Day last week.

"Kindergarten's curriculum has a farm unit. We have a ranch at our house, and for many years, we've brought animals to share with the kindergartners on my team," said Bennett Ranch Elementary teacher Mary Beth Spurlock.

"They're always super excited. I always get to hear about their favorite animal and I get to hear kind of random facts that they learned," she continued.

Falcon High School Agriculture Program Teacher David Kranz said the partnership is helpful to his high school students in Future Farmers of America (FFA), because "part of our FFA is premiere leadership and getting high school students out of their comfort zone and walking around with the little kids and keeping them safe. So it's their way of giving back."

He also said that students need to learn about agriculture and where their food comes from because "now that they know how it gets there, maybe they'll show a little bit more respect for our food."

"I'm excited that we have this collaboration between the schools and the kids. I'm just excited to continue this into the future," said Spurlock.
