49 Voices Survey: District 49 Vision, Mission and Educational Philosophy Spring 2025

We Value Your Voice!

Members of School District 49’s Board of Education are leading a discussion about updating policy AD - Section A: Foundations and Basic Commitments. Proposed revisions, which were first discussed in public during the 3/26 work session, apply to D49’s Vision and Mission statements as well as our Educational Philosophy Statement. 

In summary, the proposed revisions to current policy language include: 

• Adding to policy AD the long-form version of D49’s Vision Statement.
• Updating the long-form of D49's Mission Statement.
• Updating the Educational Philosophy Statement.

Our process invites community input, and we are committed to host these conversations in partnership with the D49 family. Policy AD reflects an in-depth cycle of learning and listening completed in February of 2018, resulting in the crafting of our current version of our vision and mission statements. Similarly, we listened to the Voice of the Community in early 2020, when we updated– and added to– our strategic Big Rocks. 

We invite you to participate in this short survey as we develop a final recommendation for approval by our Board of Education. It should take less than five minutes to complete.
