Referral Windows
September 30, 2024 - November 1, 2024
January 27, 2025 - February 28, 2025
During this time, with substantial and convincing qualitative data, staff, parents, students, and even the student him or herself could nominate a student for the identification process. Then these steps would be followed:
- Recommendations for referrals - Assessments scores provided and reviewed.
- Referral/Permission to Test sent home to parents.
- Return Referral/Permission to Test form
- Referral initiated when window opens; document uploaded and reviewed.
- D49 Coordinators will review the referral and determine next steps.
- Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will receive an online survey that will be used to provide feedback regarding student performance in various areas; teachers will receive this as well.
- Once feedback is provided, D49 Coordinators will review the information and determine if testing is appropriate. If testing is deemed appropriate, tests will be sent to the facilitator.
- Parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified about testing and the best time to complete testing will be determined.
- Once testing is completed, it will be picked up and evaluated; it usually takes about a week to review test results and provide feedback as to next steps.
- If a student is formally identified for Gifted Education Programming, a letter of identification will be delivered to your student, to be brought home to you.
- If your student does not qualify, you should be notified. This may mean that we will continue to monitor scores, or wait until next year to re-evaluate.
